_When it comes to traumatic or harmful events, we tend to bury our thoughts and feelings during the experience as a way to survive. This is a natural instinct and speaks to our capacity to protect ourselves and to endure. Sometimes, thoughts and feelings can become 'locked' in our body, later revealing themselves as depression, anxiety, anger, or grief.
Depression Depression can have many root causes, unique to each person's circumstance. Some clients report feeling stuck or blocked in healing from a relationship where a partner used abuse or from past abuse at the hands of a parent; other clients seek Kelly's guidance to prepare to return to work after incidents of workplace bullying. Using simple and effective journaling techniques and replacing deep seated beliefs with powerful self affirmations can help release, process, integrate, and transform repressed emotions. Anxiety Anxiety can alert us to danger or it can push us to successfully complete a task. In its unhelpful form, lasting anxiety can leave us stretching to maintain perfect standards, grappling with the extra pressure and quick response time that technology can require, or struggling to perform multiple family and work roles equally well. Kelly can help clients readily identify the signs and symptoms of anxiety in the body and defuse these reactions with mindfulness techniques that restore a sense of safety, grounding, calm, and relief. Adapting self care activities and setting boundaries are often part of reducing anxiety. Anger Anger is an emotion that everyone experiences. For some people, it can take a stronghold in their personal development and relationships. Kelly works with male and female clients to explore the motivation and purpose behind their anger reactions. With practice, clients normally find that identifying anger triggers and how they show up in the body can allow them to work with anger before it escalates. Simple and meaningful relaxation exercises, self care activities, and a clear decision making process can help clients communicate empathetically and assertively with others, bringing out the best in the situation. Grief and loss Whether you're experiencing grief or loss from infertility, physical illness, recent retirement, or the death of a loved one, Kelly is ready to extend compassionate and knowledgeable guidance. Kelly specializes in helping clients navigate complex infertility procedures. Kelly and her husband's six-year struggle with infertility, before having two sons, gives Kelly profound insight into a common and intimate challenge facing couples. |
